Selling your home is more than simply placing a sign on the lawn, putting an add in the
paper and waiting for the buyers to show up. There's much more than that on the part of a
Realtor and there is also much more to it on the part of the seller.
Preparing Your Home
One of the most important things to do before placing your home on the market is to get
the home ready for viewing. As a Realtor, I know what turns people off
as well as what excites
people when they view a home. I can suggest what you should do to bring out the best in
your home.
Some of my suggestions may be to remove furniture that may be cluttering the home, opening
drapes and curtains to let the sun in, replacing 60 watt light bulbs with 100 watt bulbs,
uncluttering closets and storage space, fixing leaky faucets, cleaning up the yard and
garage as well as minor painting and decorating. Simply put, your home should look like a
model home.
Of course this is a lot of work, but it will help sell your home quicker and in most
cases, will net you more money.
Pricing your Property
When you decide to sell your property, your goal should be to sell it for as much money as
the market allows. Pricing too high will keep your home from selling. A low price may keep
you from receiving full value.
As your Realtor, one of my jobs will be to inform you of the market conditions and how it
affects your home. I will provide you with enough information so that you may make an
informed decision. A competitively priced home usually sells faster and nets a seller more
money.
Selecting a Realtor
The Sales Representative brings the market to you. The market brings you the price. The
right Sales Representative is the one who knows the market and can get you the best
possible price. NOT the one who promises the highest price, just to get you to list with
them.
It's very important that you select a Realtor you are comfortable with and you can trust,
not just to get the job done, but also a Realtor you can trust to give you the right
advise throughout the entire process.
